At Food Tech Gurus, our aim is to provide Teachers and Students with the most creative and advanced way to Teach and Study Food Technology.

There are a lot of factors at play that led us along this journey, the most significant being the pressures on Teachers to perform and achieve under ever-increasingly difficult and challenging conditions every day.

There are so many reasons why a credible resource such as ours will be a valuable asset to Teachers, Students and Schools right across Australia. As Teachers, we think about everything we need to do in a day, a week and in a school year in order to get the results Schools and Families are looking for. There is simply not enough time in the day to rightfully get the results we all want.

Our Vision is to provide a tool for Teachers to use that will enable them to focus on Teaching, Student engagement and achieving results. Yes, planning and preparation are key, but if we can take much of the hard work away and provide more time to focus on your Teaching and Students, how good would that be?

Meet the Gurus!

Food Tech Gurus founder

Tess Monda is an accomplished Food Technology educator and presenter, dedicated to inspiring excellence in Food Studies and Design and Technologies. She has played a key role in shaping curriculum and has shared her expertise at national conferences such as HEV, HEIA, and PIEFA. Tess is a VCAA Assessor and contributor to curriculum, assessment and exams. Her career blends rich classroom experience with a passion for empowering Teachers and Students to think critically, create innovatively, and engage meaningfully with the world.

“When I began teaching 25 years ago, I dreamed of creating a resource for Food Technology Teachers that would save time, align with the curriculum, and make life in the classroom easier. The name Food Tech Gurus was chosen because food Teachers truly are the Gurus—the experts shaping the future. I hope you enjoy this resource and that it supports and inspires your teaching.”

Brenton Hockley enjoyed a long and successful career in marketing, national and international business management followed by 22 years of ownership in small business focussed on training and skill development.

“Working with Tess, I quickly learnt about the ever-growing challenges faced by Teachers every day just getting the basics done. I could easily see and understand her vision of creating a Teaching and Learning Resource and the great benefit it would provide to Teachers and Students alike.”
